21573 updates the version of libsecp256k1 included in Bitcoin Core. Once CJDNS is set up outside of Bitcoin Core, node operators can toggle the new configuration option -cjdnsreachable to have Bitcoin Core interpret fc00::/8 addresses as belonging to CJDNS rather than being interpreted as private IPv6 addresses. This wouldn’t be any more effective at preventing fee sniping, but it would provide a good reason for regular wallets to set their nSequence values to the same values that are required for transactions in certain multisignature-based contract protocols, such as ideas for coinswaps and taproot-enabled LN. All wallets that implement anti fee sniping today use nLockTime height locks, but it’s also possible to implement the same protection using BIP68 nSequence height locks. It’s absolutely essential that the nonces not be derived in an entirely deterministic way that could lead to the same nonce being used again for a different signature. In many threshold cases, it’s known in advance which participants are most likely to sign. Although users wanting minimal fees and maximal privacy may eventually switch to pure threshold signature schemes, the above scheme may also continue to remain in use because it provides onchain proof to an auditor (if they know all of the participants’ public keys) about which corresponding private keys were used to sign.
>
Remember that your private and public keys are what give you access to your assets. Script-based multisigs increase in size as more keys and signatures are required, but multisignatures are a constant small size. This week’s newsletter describes a proposal to change Bitcoin Core’s transaction selection algorithm for miner block templates to slightly increase miner profitability and give fee bumping users more collective leverage. By themselves, the MuSig family of multisignature schemes only give you n-of-n signing-every party who contributes a key towards the aggregated public key must also contribute a partial signature to the final signature. The authors of the MuSig proposals suggest that will be MuSig2 due to its relative simplicity and high utility. There’s an open and actively-developed PR to the libsecp256k1-zkp project to add MuSig2 support. Apply for our open positions now. Note: New users with registered Binance Futures accounts of less than 30 days are prohibited from opening positions with leverage exceeding 20x. Leverage limits will also concern existing clients with registered futures accounts of less than
a
Andrew Chow notes that as more diverse and complicated scripts become more widely used and for separation of concern reasons, there is no taproot equivalent for xpub/ypub/zpub. ● Taproot activated: as expected, the taproot soft fork activated at block height 709,632. As of this writing, several large mining pools are not mining blocks containing taproot spends. ● Rust-Lightning 0.0.98 is a minor release containing several improvements and bug fixes. ● Ledger Live supports taproot: Ledger’s client software, Ledger Live, announced taproot support in their v2.35.0 release as an experimental feature. Taproot support in the UI is planned for a future update. As of this merge, support for anchor outputs is implemented in all four LN implementations we cover. “Additive batching” is a scheme in which additional outputs are added to unconfirmed transactions in the mempool. Replace By Fee (RBF, BIP125) and batching are two important tools for any enterprises directly interacting with Bitcoin’s mempool. Also included are our regular sections with announcements of new software releases and release candidates, plus notable changes to popular Bitcoin infrastructure software. This week’s newsletter provides information about the activation of taproot and 바이낸스 KYC (webpage) includes our regular sections with summaries of changes to services and client software, new releases and release candidates, and notable changes to popular Bitcoin infras
t
software.
For additional information about the creation of the website, see Bitcoin Magazine’s article. When the receiver acknowledges that the money is available, the spender releases the information necessary for the receiver to claim the money. LND users are encouraged to upgrade to a bug fix release, 0.14.1 (described in the Releases and release candidates section below). ● NthKey adds bech32m send capabilities: iOS signing service NthKey added support for taproot sends in the v1.0.4 release. Binance Bahrain has received a Category 4 license as a crypto-asset service provider (CASP) from the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB). Bifnity will work in tandem with Paysafe to expand into Latin America, where it has a market-leading real time payments service. Anti fee sniping is a technique some wallets implement to discourage miners from trying to steal fees from each other in a way that would reduce the amount of proof of work expended on securing Bitcoin and limit users’ ability to rely
confirmation scores.
